Twinhead 10D features and price get 'juices flowing' at PC Authority Australia

The Twinhead 10D won high marks for value, light weight and features to earn the PC Authority Magazine (Australia) Recommended award.

"We love ultra-portable notebooks at PC Authority," the article noted. "But even with recent pricedrops they're still expensive and/orunder-featured options in a highly competitivenotebook market. However, the fact you cancarry a fully-working laptop, smaller than a bigbook, in your bag and barely notice it makesit incredibly useful. The fact that Twinhead¡¦soffering comes in at just under (Australian) $2499 also got our juices flowing."

Value and performance were the recurring themes of the review by writer Nick Ross in the publication's May 2006 edition.

The 10D's keyboard: "crisp and not rattly." Its track pad: "responsive."

The review continued:

"The 10D weighs in at 1.6kg and sports a 10.6-inch screen. This offers a crisp and bright widescreen 1280 x 768 resolution... Viewing angles aren't bad either and watching films on it was a treat..."

Other features include a decent 60GB hard disk and excellent dual-layer DVD writer that also supports DVD-RAM. Connectivity isn't bad either, with a memory card reader that supports SD/MMC and Memory Stick and 802.11.b/g wireless (Bluetooth is optional). We also like the switch on the front which turns it on and off. Twinhead also squeezes in two USB 2 ports, mini FireWire, two audio jacks and a VGA out.

"There's a nice software bundle too... CyberLink's DVD Solution is a great offering and usefully provides all levels of DVD watching and creation to at least some extent.

"The warranty is a decent three years RTB.

PC Authority's conclusions:

"A great little performer. You simply can't get smaller for cheaper...a decent piece of kit that is great value for money for something so small."
